SARAH HARDY, Editor
Feast is run by well known Norfolk journalist Sarah Hardy who’s been shouting about the joy of great food and drink for years. She cut her teeth on the Eastern Daily Press (when it was the biggest selling regional morning newspaper in England), was the launch writer on EDP Norfolk, head of features at the EDP for 10 years and also edited a Norfolk-based monthly lifestyle magazine. She set up Feast in 2015 to capture the region’s plough to plate stories, is a real supporter of small, independent businesses and loves to try out new eateries. You’ll often find her at farmers’ markets and food festivals, meeting new artisan producers and trying their products – especially if it is gin!
Favourite dish: Got to be a Cromer crab salad, hasn’t it, with buttery potatoes, too. And masses of fresh strawberries with a scoop or two of Lakenham Creamery ice cream for afters. In the winer, those comfort food dishes like apple crumble and fish pies are called for.
Samantha joined Feast in 2019 and will be the person most people speak to when they contact Feast. Like the rest of the team, she is a keen cook, taking it one step further and appearing on MasterChef in 2019. Samantha loves to support the local high street and can be found most weekends visiting local butchers, greengrocers, fishmongers, and delis, before returning to her kitchen to cook up a feast for friends and family.
Favourite dish: It changes throughout the season. Asparagus, stone fruits, fish, and chestnuts all feature one way or another as the year goes on. My current addiction is my homemade prawn curry with naan bread – perfect at any time of year.
Hanneke joined Feast in 2018 and is responsible for it looking so great. She’s a keen cook, especially loves to barbecue, and she enjoys visiting France – which inspires both her cooking and her wine cellar! Born and educated in Norfolk, Hanneke has an extensive knowledge of the local foodie scene and also enjoys eating out in many of the region’s restaurants, bars and cafés.
Favourite dish: That’s a tough one. My favourite cuisines are French and Mexican – a mix! Most recently I smoked some butter to have with a delicious local lobster – simple and fresh! Dare I say it, lobster mac n’ cheese is something that I can’t pass up on!
