Welcome to the Feast Directory, our very own ‘little black book’ of recommended restaurants, holiday cottages, producers and more. It is set to grow and grow and should be a useful reference aid when trying to track down a great caterer, baker or romantic restaurant! Enjoy
The Victoria Inn is ideally situated just a few minutes’ walk from the golden sands of Holkham Beach and at the gates of the Earl of Leicester’s Palladian ancestral home, Holkham Hall. On the menu, expect to find shellfish, fish or samphire from the North Norfolk coast, beef from the farms on the Holkham Estate, lamb or pork from one of the farm tenants, or soft summer fruit from a fruit farm along the coast and (winter only) wild game from the family shoot or venison from the herd of fallow deer. It has 20 bedrooms, or you could just pop in for a pint after a brisk walk on Holkham Beach.
Thornham Deli is a delicatessen with a difference. Situated at the heart of the North Norfolk coast, they pride themselves on the warm welcome and vibrant atmosphere customers encounter the minute they step through the door.
With an abundance of fresh, local produce, they provide sumptuous meals and tempting treats, as well as serving some of the best coffee on the coast and stocking a superb range of wines, beers and spirits.
But, as regulars will tell you, they offer so very much more besides. It is perhaps why they say: “we are more than a deli …” Go and see for yourselves!
This seafood gem is run by husband and wife Scott and Kelly Dougal who are now entering their third year. Right on the quay, the fish and shellfish couldn’t be any fresher!
Expect mussels, lobsters and oysters and be sure to try their platter which is crammed with tempting treats.
Wells butcher Arthur Howell supplies their meats and Kelly, who runs the front of house with Scott at stove, is rather a drab hand at cocktails – and the gin list is impressive, too. This is a friendly place, with much attention to detail.
Nestled beside the Norfolk Broads, the Mack Family have been working the fertile land for over 100 years. On their farm they produce from seed to bottle an award-winning extra virgin cold pressed rapeseed oil which is then used as the foundation to create a wonderful range of dressings, infusions and marinades that are perfect for everyday use. As well as this the farm also holds a unique self-service Farm Shop brimming with local goodies, a timeshare pool and even a cosy French/Portuguese style patisserie, all tucked away in an area perfect for nature walks, cycling and exploring on a day out.
