The Norwich-based pair, currently studying A levels, have completed food hygiene courses and started their sweet and cake business as part of their school’s Young Chamber Enterprise scheme around a year ago. They are also both studying A level Business.
And, as Olivia explains, it has taken off beyond their wildest dreams. ‘We bake at home and can deliver across Norwich. We make everything ourselves, using farm eggs, and we’re always working on new ideas and new recipes.’
Popular bakes include a chocolate fudge brownie cake with a white chocolate drizzle, while their range of creamy fudge is very popular. Olivia adds: ‘Our glitter blocks and fudge bags are fun, and we cater for special occasions – say Father’s Day, and thank you gifts.’
She continues: ‘It has certainly given us a real insight into running a business – we have thought a lot about our prices and our packaging can be recycled – we’re learning all the time.’
The students, both aged 17, are saving up their profits from the new business for a shopping trip in Norwich, and maybe even a holiday!
