The hamper (£48) contains everything she needs for a sumptuous and sweet afternoon tea at home (including clotted cream and jam). She’ll also enjoy tea, fudge and truffles – all beautifully presented in a Goodies hamper.
Goodies are also serving up their sensational two-course Sunday Roasts, cooked by head chef Darren Reilly, to enjoy at home on Mother’s Day. Choose from Aromatic Slow Cooked Pork Belly, Butcher’s Roast Topside of Beef or even a Banquet Thyme and Lemon Roasted Spatchcock Hen, served with all the trimmings including Goodies’ Yorkshire puddings, goose fat and roasted thyme roasted potatoes and smoked bacon creamed cabbage. There are some fantastic desserts to follow, including indulgent Toblerone cheesecake, lemon posset cream and heavenly chocolate smothered tiramisu terrine. Two courses are £16.50.
Paddy & Scott’s
Suffolk-based Paddy & Scott’s has created a lovely gift bag especially for mums that love coffee. Featuring a cute bag, a month’s supply of coffee and a coffee mug, it’s the perfect treat and something different to flowers or chocolates. It’s £22.99 and can be ordered from their website.
This North Norfolk deli is jam packed with beautiful gift ideas for your mum – from vases to cushions, quirky books, pamper hampers, scarves and more. And that’s before we mention the food! There is a good selection of own label products – we love the spiced apple chutney – plus plenty of cheeses, sauces, biscuits, cakes, charcuterie, beers, juices and more. If you want to send a hamper, simply give them a call and they will make one up, packed with your mum’s favourite treats. You can also order a lovely takeaway – the superfood salad is a Feast winner!
Heart Research UK
This national charity has just launched its first ever e-cook book and has recipes from leading lights including Joe Wicks, the Hairy Bikers and Michelin Star chef, Tom Kitchin. There are 17 recipes in total and they range from light breakfasts to brunches, main meals and a few tempting desserts.
The book is available as a download, with a suggested £5 donation. All of the money raised will go to the charity’s life-saving work.
Giddens and Thompson
This Bungay greengrocer prepares the most gorgeous gift hampers, packed full of those vital five a day fruit and veg. At £25, they can be collected from the shop or delivered (for a small fee) within a eight-mile radius of the town. You can add in some nuts or medjool dates, too. Finally, they are very nicely presented, and make a very healthy alternative. We approve!
Well, there has to be a gin in here somewhere, doesn’t there?! This was about the first gin produced in the county and it has stayed a firm favourite with us all. Lovingly produced in Norwich by Jonathan and Alison Redding since 2014, it is crammed with herbs and spices including coriander and cardamom. We like it served with a sprig of thyme and a slice of orange – and a goodly measure of the actual gin, of course. Mums will like the pretty porcelain bottle – great for use as a vase afterwards!
Lifetime of Chocolate
This is a newish artisan chocolate company set up by Chloe Saterlay who creates the most gorgeous chocolate gifts and goodies. Think brownies, truffles, fudge bites, tasting bars and more. For Mothering Sunday, there are some pretty chocolate (white and milk) flowers at just £2.25 for 10.
Chloe trained at City College, Norwich, and has also worked in New York and London but is now, fortunately, back here in Norfolk! She has a real attention to detail and her fledgling business is flying.
How about a gift voucher for the Theatre Royal in Norwich – there are some cracking shows lined up? Or a posh takeaway meal from one of the many restaurants and cafes in the region – Rocky Bottoms at West Runton, near Sheringham, The Shambles in North Walsham, Roger Hickman in Norwich or Wells Crab House? Jarrold’s has a lovely looking gin and chocolate gift hamper, Delia’s has a big selection of cakes and there’s always that real winner: fish and chips from one of Eric’s great takeaways in Thornham and Holt? Just add mushy peas.
