Home deliveries have never been more popular – or necessary. Here’s a look at just a few of the food and drink ones available in Norfolk
This family-run fruit and vegetable wholesaler has been going strong for more than 40 years – you’ll have seen their vans out and about around the county as they deliver to pubs, hotels and restaurants. They started home deliveries in lockdown and haven’t looked back! You can either build your own box or choose from one of their own three – with prices starting at £20. Don’t think it’s just fruit and veg – they are pretty much a one-stop shop with milk, cheese, bread, dried goods, eggs, frozen items, cereals – and more. Next day delivery is free to all NR postcodes apart from NR30, 31, 32 and 33. They are a friendly and kind lot here – we like ’em very much!
Based in beautiful Brancaster Staithe, Phil Hartshorne runs this traditional smokehouse, producing beautiful smoked salmon, haddock, and scallops – plus amazing fish platters.
There is an onsite shop (in the grounds of the White Horse pub and hotel) but deliveries throughout Norfolk are available – just go online and see what you fancy. Quality is first class and Phil also produces a very good smoked salt!

Farm shop, butchery, vineyard, cow with calf dairy, and cafe – wow! Old Hall Farm delivers fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy produce, meat, and store cupboard essentials to include flour, yeast, oils, jams, marmalades, bread, pulses, as well as gin, wine, beer, cheese, cakes, pies (all home made), and much more. If your taste buds are craving something a little bit different, order yourself a gorgeous Indian meal from Ethnic Fusion, made with fresh herbs and spices. Lamb, chicken, vegan and vegetarian dishes are prepared with love and delivered (frozen) every other weekend (Saturdays and Sundays) across Norfolk – with no delivery charges.
Dishes – which might include Bombay aloo, chicken makhani, lamb samosas or onion bhaajis – are gluten free, have no additives or preservatives and can be cooked from frozen or defrosted first. They last up to three months in the freezer, too. You can pre-order and collect from the monthly farmers’ market at Creake Abbey, near Burnham Market, or from the Dereham kitchen.
Tap and Tipple
Tivetshall St Margaret
Here’s a home delivery service with a difference – it’s for wine, and cheers to that. It’s a bit like an old fashioned milkman service where your empties are filled up! You simply leave out your clean glass bottles and they are refilled with your favourite wine – we spotted an Argentinian Malbec on offer. Deliveries are on Thursdays (South Norfolk), Fridays (Norwich and South Norfolk) and Saturdays (Beccles, Bungay, Southwold). They are free within a 12-mile radius of the Tivetshall St Margaret base, and there is a £24 minimum spend.
Walsingham Farms Shop
There is a beautiful farm shop/deli in Little Walsingham, and a great online offering which is expanding all the time. You’ll find plenty of the region’s best local products like Sandringham Apple Juice and Baron Bigod cheese, while their famous homemade Nelson pie is a must. Look out for the Food Cupboard Essentials box at £30 which has a little bit of everything! There is a free local delivery service – NR21, 22 and 23 – on Mondays and Fridays. Otherwise, various delivery charges apply. There is also a click and collect option available.
Tavern Tasty Meats
Swafield, North Walsham
This well known Norfolk family-run butchers concentrates on traditional meat – and provenance is everything. Gloucester Old Spot, British Lop and British Saddleback pork comes from the family farm at nearby Smallburgh; Southdown lamb is from the Norfolk Broads; there are Sutton Hoo chickens from Suffolk and all beef is supplied by the Caitling family who graze their cattle near the shop, and it is matured for a minimum of 21 days. Add in 14 types of homemade sausages, delicious bacon – we love their home-smoked variety, pork pies, sausage rolls, bread, cheese, condiments, Scotch eggs, quiches and numerous tempting pies – and you’re spoilt for choice. Be sure to look out for the Norfolk venison cuts, too – a real seasonal favourite.
There is free delivery all over Norfolk if you spend £30, and delivery is free in the North Walsham area for the next two weeks from October 19, 2020, if you spend £10, due to roadworks around the shop.
