Feast previews the first Festival of Sport at Holkham in August which also offers the Taste of Norfolk food village
This summer’s Holkham Festival of Sport is all about getting children to try out different sports – regardless of their ability.
Around 17 different sports and activities will be on offer for children aged 5 to 17 and the emphasis is very much on fun. Expect football, gymnastics, golf, netball, dodgeball, climbing, and more, with a host of famous faces present to offer expert advice and guidance.
The legends already confirmed include England rugby greats Will Greenwood, Mike Tindall, Austin Healey and Rachael Burford, former England cricket captain Andrew Strauss (pictured above), double Olympic and three times World champion rower Helen Glover, TV naturalist Steve Backshall and celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins star Jason Fox.
Will Greenwood explains: ‘We recognise that not every kid gets involved in the same way. Our mantra for the festival is that “no-one gets left on the bench. It doesn’t matter if you’re a budding junior champion or just want to stick your toe in the water and try something new. There’s something for everyone.’
The Festival, running from August 13 to 15, also includes activities for little ones under five, a creche, and events such as yoga and cycle rides for adults so it is very much a family affair. Add in a spa and wellness area, an outdoor cinema, live music and a silent disco, too.
Food is a big part of what is on offer, with the Taste of Norfolk food village boasting numerous foodie stalls, all local, serving up a wide selection of delicious treats. Charlie Hodson, from Hodson and Co Cheese Room with Deli in Aylsham and Sam Bagge, of Walsingham Farms Shop, are running a breakfast station and a deli counter, and Adnams is in charge of the bar!
