Some good news! While the annual Aldeburgh Food Festival, a real highlight of the gourmet year, sadly isn’t taking place this year, organisers are planning a free Market Weekend to celebrate the region’s rich foodie scene.
The Market Weekend is taking place on September 26 and 27 in the grounds of Snape Maltings and will feature more than 60 local producers, offering a wide selection of food and drink treats to enjoy.
The usual live chef demonstrations and masterclasses are not happening, but there will be street food, musical entertainment and refreshments – and the Concert Hall cafe and Snape Maltings shops will be open, too.
Anyone interested in attending must pre book a slot, and contactless payment is preferred. All social distancing requirements will be met.
Tickets will be available for timed entry slots via the website from 31st August: https://aldeburghfoodanddrink.co.uk/the-festival/tickets/
Following the weekend, there will be, as usual, several independently hosted fringe events taking place around Suffolk, offering an opportunity to see the industry experts on their home ground.
- Organisers are asking all foodies who love the Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival, a not-for-profit organisation, to make a donation to secure the event next year. Visit www.crowdfunder.co.uk/future-proof-aldeburgh-food-drink-festival
