October 8, 2020 @ 8:00 am - October 12, 2020 @ 5:00 pm

Sadly, so many of the much-loved food festivals in the UK and overseas have been cancelled due to the corona lockdowns. That includes the world’s largest sustainable food gathering, Slow Food’s Terra Madre Salone del Gusto.

This year, that festival has become virtual, and we bring with it, an entirely free UK fringe programme from 8 – 12 October.

We have globally-renowned speakers such as Patrick Holden and Prof Martin Caraher, tastings by world-class experts such as Sarah Wyndham Lewis and the doyenne of British food, Henrietta Green. Plus, chef demos and discussions with chefs such as Paula McIntyre, Peter McKenna, Wendy Barrie and Lisa Osman.

Panel discussions dive into ethical shellfish, how restaurants responded to Covid, and why does Slow Food Matter. (Watch to find out the shared values that link Cornish-grown Tregothnan Tea, Peter Cook’s Bread, Just Kidding, The Bee Farmer, Oliver’s Cider and All Hallows Cookery School.)

Learn about the fascinating story of Kampot Pepper and nod in agreement to Jilly Dougan’s clarion call for children’s education.

We have films about rural communities, heroic small, local producers, and, in conjunction with Odysea, a screening of ‘When Tomatoes met Wager’. This film premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and is on cinematic release: we screen it for one night only free.

No festival is complete without tastings: we have them in abundance : Cider, Scottish Ark of Taste products, British Charcuterie, Cheeses, Olive Oils and Olives, Balsamic Vinegars and Chocolate. You can buy a tasting pack in advance and you can taste along with the expert tutor or producer.

To participate, find the events you want to attend on our Terra Madre Fringe website and book your free tickets. We will even send you an email reminder each day of what you have booked.

To attend the Fringe, and any of the hundreds of global events, you will need to download the free Zoom app on your smartphone or other device, or use the desktop version.

Twenty-five events. Five Days. Book now before all the tickets are gone.
